My Story

I have been practising as a counsellor since 2022 and set up my private practice in 2025. I have always loved working with children and am passionate about supporting their emotional wellbeing. I am kind and approachable and am committed to providing a safe, supportive counselling space for every child and young person I work with.

Before becoming a therapist I worked as a primary school teacher for 20 years in Lambeth and Southwark.  I taught children from Reception through to Year 6, working initially as a class teacher and then going on to be the PE teacher across the school.  During this time, I supported children from a wide range of backgrounds and with varying emotional, social and learning needs.  Having become increasingly drawn to the pastoral side of teaching, I made the transition to retrain as a therapist.

In addition to my private practice, I work as a school counsellor in both primary and secondary school settings. This gives me an ongoing understanding of the day-to-day challenges that children and young people face in education and how therapy can support them.

My Approach

I am a psychotherapeutic counsellor and I use both talking and the creative arts in my work.  My approach is psychodynamic, grounded in psychoanalysis, attachment theory, child development and neuroscience.   I work in a trauma-informed way that respects each young person’s pace and unique story.

My training at the Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education (IATE) has equipped me with a strong foundation in integrating the Arts in my therapeutic work. I use a combination of talking and the Arts adapting to the needs and preferences of each child or young person.  Depending on what feels most comfortable, they can choose from a range of creative arts such as painting, clay, sandtray, puppets, storytelling, role-play and movement.  Play and creativity offer a natural way to explore feelings that can be hard to put into words.

Using the Arts is never a requirement and some clients might prefer to simply talk things through.  This flexibility allows each client to engage in therapy in the way that suits them best.
